Coloma - July 23, 2000 - Another beautiful day!  Yong didn't say what the flying
was like, but he shot one spectacular panoramic with his digital camera! SCROLL TO THE RIGHT>>>>>>>>>>

Mount Whitney - July 23, 2000
FROM: Tom         TO: Mark at Ball Varios
Just got back from the Owens Valley. Had a blast! The GC98 seemed to work fine.
One thing though, it would switch from the thermal screen to the RSK screen when in
strong sink. Is this normal?
One other thing I would like to confirm is the Peak readout in the flight log. Is this
peak lift? I got some of the strongest lift(and sink!) of my life this weekend and the vario
recorded a peak of 3202 fpm! Is that possible? Seems like it could be because one
minute I was looking up at Mt. Whitney and the next I was looking down at it! What a
view from 17,338 feet!! The flight lasted for 4 hours and a distance of 70 miles!!!
Thanks for fixing the vario! I think it played a big part in my personal record breaking
weekend!
